  1. General Meeting with Proctor & Gamble

Date: October 4th

Time: 5:30 pm

Place: TBA

Our next general meeting is with Proctor & Gamble, a multinational manufacturer of a variety of product ranges including personal care, household cleaning, laundry detergents, prescription drugs, and disposable nappies. Come and listen to the company reps’ presentation and ask them questions. As always, FREE PIZZA!

  1. Round Table with Ford

Date: October 3rd

Time: 5:30 pm

Place: Papa Del’s ?

Our upcoming round table is with automotive giant Ford. Come and meet the company recruiters in a relaxed, one-one-one atmosphere. This is a great way to find out more about the company and meet the representatives. As always, FREE PIZZA! Space is limited, so sign up soon at http://asme.ec.uiuc.edu/signups.php.

  1. Homecoming Float

The big homecoming game versus Indiana is coming up, and we need to get started on our homecoming float! ASME has won the float contest the past couple of years, and we need your help to continue the tradition. The first build session will be on Thursday at 7 pm at the Special Projects building, which is the building with the white roof north east of Loomis. There will be more build sessions on Saturday and Sunday, more info on those coming later. Any questions should be sent to Jason Thomas (thomas6@uiuc.edu) or Matt Savoie (msavoie2@uiuc.edu).

  1. Social Events

The intramural soccer season is about to get underway; we will know the schedule on Thursday. We will also be having the ASME cookout on October 5th from 11 am – 1 pm on Matthews outside of MEB. More info on that later. Also, mark your calendars: the ASME barcrawl will be on October 17th, with more info coming later.

  1. Committees

It is definitely not too late to get involved with an ASME committee! See http://asme.ec.uiuc.edu/committees.htm for a list of committees, and feel free to ask any one of the board members for more info. ASME committees are a great way to get involved in ASME and look great on a resume.

That’s all for this week. Sorry about the long email, but there is a lot going on in ASME coming up!
