1. General Meeting with Proctor and Gamble

When: Tuesday, September 30th from 5:00pm – 6:30pm
Where: John Deere Pavilion in MEL

Join us for our second general meeting of the semester. Learn more about Procter and Gamble and the opportunities available for Mechanical Engineers. Dinner will be provided.

2. Freshmen M.E. for Me Conference (Please note the date change)

Date: Thursday, October 2 (Please note the change in Date of the event)
Time: 5:15 – 6 pm
Location: TBA

This event is geared toward the Freshmen in the MechSE department. You are invited to attend this meeting to get some valuable advice on several aspects of your college career. We will talk about crucial things like Resumes, Job search, interviewing, research opportunities and much more. There will be upperclassmen present to answer any questions that you may have. Mark your calendar today! Also, as always, there will be free pizza!

3.Homecoming Float Build

When: Wednesday, September 24, 7pm
Where: Engineering Special Projects Lab

We will have our second float build on Wednesday, September 24th at ESPL. We have started building and have our plan finalized. We need all the help we can get, so please come out, get involved, and have fun!

4. Nuclear Power Station Visit

When: Tuesday, September 30th from 11:00am – 4:00pm
Where: Clinton Nuclear Power Generating Station
Learn more about Exelon and the many opportunities they provide for Mechanical Engineering students in this exclusive tour and presentation. Signup on the ASME website – signups are due this evening before midnight. Food will be provided, and transportation will be provided for the first 3 members who signup – otherwise, travel must be arranged. Please direct any inquiries to Bradley Tran at 309.826.6435.

5. iHelp: Homecoming Volunteer Project

When: Saturday, October 4th, 9:30am-2:00pm
Where: Around Campus

Do you want to be a part of the largest campus wide volunteer project?

Sign up for iHelp: The Homecoming Volunteer Project on Saturday, October 4th, which sends more than 1,500 University of Illinois students into the community to volunteer at different organizations .

Check-In starts at 9:30 a.m. with free breakfast & entertainment on the Quad!

Volunteering ends around 2:00 p.m. with free lunch.

6. Free Movie Screening of Flash of Genius

When: Thursday, October 2nd at 7:30pm
Where: Beverly Cinema on Prospect Ave.

Universal Studios is hosting a private screening of Flash of Genius and is extending free passes to all members of ASME. The movie is about an engineer and college professor who invents the windshield wiper. When Ford steals his idea, Robert Kearn begins a lifelong fight to regain the justice and conviction of his life's work. The movie will be Thursday, October 2nd at 7:30pm at Beverly Cinema on Prospect Avenue.

7. Fall Barcrawl

When: Wednesday, October 15th

We are in the process of planning our annual fall barcrawl. Stay tuned for more details. We are still looking for shirt ideas, so if you have any, please contact Carol at cregalbuto@gmail.com.

8. Paintballing

When: Saturday, October 25th

We will be hosting a paintballing event on Saturday October 25th. We are still arranging the details, but be aware of this date. Sign-ups and more information to come soon!

9. FE Exam Review

The Fall 2008 ASCE F.E. Review Sessions start on 9/22/08 and run through 10/16/08. If you still would like to sign up for the F.E. Review Sessions, there will be an ASCE officer present at 6:30pm before the 9/22/08 (in 103 Trans. Building) and the 9/25/08 (in 1310 DCL) sessions to help with sign-ups.

Any updates in the schedule or announcements that affect the F.E. Review Sessions will be sent out via e-mail to those signed up and they will also posted on the ASCE website www.uiasce.org.
